More accounts and settings

Everything in this page happens inside the client, in the settings view. Type :settings.

Add a second account

On the Accounts tab, press A and answer the same questions the first-account wizard asked. When it saves, the new account appears in the sidebar with its own folders beneath it, and the daemon starts syncing it on its next pass.

Switching between accounts costs nothing: gt and gT cycle the view scope (unified, then each account), and the unified view is simply everything at once. Each account sends as itself; a reply is always sent from the identity the message was delivered to, and in a fresh compose the From field cycles through your identities with Left / Right.

Tune the essentials

The Essentials tab holds the settings worth changing in the first week, each edited in place with H / L:

  • theme cycles live; stop on the one that looks right.
  • sync interval and idle: two minutes and IDLE push cover most people; both take effect when antiphond next restarts, and the view says so.
  • reading pane, list rows, sidebar width: shape the main screen to your terminal.

Every change is a minimal, atomic edit of your config file; hand-editing and the settings view never fight. The full walkthrough (including exactly what account removal does and does not delete) is in the settings view.

Give folders better names

A provider's INBOX/Receipts 2026 can appear in your sidebar as receipts. On the Folders tab of :settings, select the folder, press Enter, type the alias, and Enter again; the sidebar updates on the spot. The alias also works anywhere you type a folder name, like :move receipts. (On disk it is one line of TOML; see accounts.)
